What is a DNS Zone? Its the glue that
holds the internet together. If you have a domain like
www.mydomain.com the registrar of
that
domain
would
keep a basic DNS zone in order to point to a web or a
mail server and keep things like A records for special
uses
like FTP. The DNS contains much more information regarding
authorities and the like.
So why would you host this information elsewhere? There
are a number of reasons, mainly because the registrar
provided a limited capability to tailor the DNS zone
to your needs, or the people administering the Domain,
maybe a web hosting provider will not allow changes on
their systems.
This is most common when businesses have or require
a local mail server for example Microsoft Exchange or
want to implement Remote
Web Working
and are unable to get the DNS zone edited and setup.
That's where we step in to help..
